Toivo Kautto (born 1989) is a Finnish circus performer. He started studying at the circus programme of Turku Arts Academy in 2009 and graduated in 2012. After this, he went to deepen his studies at École Supérieure des Arts du Cirque in Belgium, from which he graduated in 2015.

Toivo has worked in several circus groups as an acrobat, trampolinist and juggler, in Belgium, France and Finland. He also performs his own solo works in juggling.

He is a founding member of the Belgian Sur Mesure contemporary circus music group that has been touring for several years in more than ten countries in Europe and Asia. In his work as a juggler, he studies movement and the use of space, and combines elements of dance in his performances. As a curious and open-minded person, he approaches new ideas and perspectives, and develops his own personal interpretation in juggling.

Performer in Belgian circus company Cie En Stock in the show ě. The show combines circus and dance art and got its idea from Michael Haneke’s film The Pianist. The show explores the dualism between two people: the back-and-forth going dominance of one person and the inner struggle of the other. As a combination of circus and dance, the work feeds on the fantasies and imperfections of human beings.

As a dramaturg in the creation of S.O.L.O. show in Belgium 2021-2022, premiere 9 April 2022 in De Werf, Aalst Belgium. This contemporary circus performance explores the situations of one person in the obsessions of life using the means of circus. What kind of feelings, life events, choices and different life paths shape us into the person we are today?

Performer and founder of the show Fillage by Sur Mesure 2015-2018 Belgium. The circus show combines live music, acrobatics, trampoline and juggling. It is a moment of breath as we prepare for the upcoming unknown journey to find what we seek and hope to find. The performance is an energetic journey as the group merges together to take a leap forward towards a common goal.

As a performer and creator in the show L'ïle de Pléthore in the company Cie la Manoeuvre 2015-2017 in France. It is a contemporary circus performance aimed at the young public, which deals with the materialistic throwaway culture of modern society. The world of the show is built with trash, disposable items, plastic bags, old toys and the world is illustrated by projectors.
